GP NOW BOARD ELECTION 2021 FAQ
This document is to clarify what positions are vacant and the standing committees that need to be filled by the chair. It also spells out how the nomination and election process will be implemented for the GP NOW 2021 Board Elections.
Please Nominate/Announce Candidacy by March 1st via the Candidate Information Form. Date of Election: Sunday, March 14th via Zoom.
Available Positions: (The first 4 roles make up the Board Exec. Committee)
- Chair
- Vice Chair
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- 5 At-large Board Member seats
Committee leadership roles appointed by Chair:
- Membership
- Fundraising
- Communications
These position commitments run through 2021, so is generally annual but a shorter term of service this year due to various complications. Expectations are somewhat flexible, but we do have a baseline for engagement: elected candidates should expect a minimum of 5 to 10 hours of time a month, including a willingness to participate in at least two meetings or happenings per month, approximately. Note: Positions left open after the election can be filled by Board appointment in 2021.

How to become a candidate:

- All members receive an email announcing the nomination process is open as of 1/19/21 and notification that the election will be held on March 14th (@GP NOW Monthly Meeting held at Noon via Zoom)
- You must be a member to run (for at least 6 months for an Exec. position and at least 90 days for an At-large member). Each voter must meet “active member ” eligibility requirements at the time of the election to have their vote counted.
- Please let us know by March 1st, that you would like to run for a specific position. Once you have declared your nomination your membership status will be checked. When your membership is confirmed you will be notified that you are a candidate for the position.

- Please complete our Candidate Information Form by March 1st, indicating a willingness to run for a specific position for the 2021 Board. Helpful information requested on this form includes:
- A short bio
- Why you want to run
- What you bring to the table/experience
- Anything else that is pertinent to your campaign
- If desired, you may also create a flyer or candidate info sheet. Maximum 1 page in length, provide to GP NOW by March 1st.

Candidate info. will be collated and provided to all current GP NOW members via email by GP NOW. We will send out this information to our active member list at least 1 week in advance of the election on March 14th, 2021.
Please Note: Candidates may announce their interest later, up to the time of the vote on March 14th however, this information will not be provided to the membership via GP NOW communications, and candidate names and details may not appear on advance elections materials or on any ballots prepared or completed in advance of the meeting. Proposals may be made in our meeting, and voted on by those present (no proxy voting).
